Getting started
Everything you need to share a clean feed in a couple of minutes.
1. Install & grant permission
Open the .dmg, drag ScreenVeil to Applications, and launch it. On first run, macOS will ask for Screen Recording permission — this is required for any app that captures the screen. ScreenVeil needs nothing else.
2. Create a Privacy Screen
ScreenVeil builds a shareable window called your Privacy Screen. Everything you approve appears there; everything you mark private does not.
3. Choose what stays private
In the console, set a rule for each app:
- Shared — appears normally in the feed.
- Hidden — removed from the shared feed entirely, while staying open on your Mac.
- Replaced — swapped for a neutral placeholder card in the feed.
4. Share the window
In Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Loom, OBS, or any tool that captures a window, choose to share the Privacy Screen window instead of your whole screen.
5. If something slips — panic
Press ⌘ ⇧ B to instantly pause the shared feed. Your audience sees a clean placeholder until you resume.
Restoring a purchase
On a new Mac, open ScreenVeil, choose Restore, and enter your purchase email. Open the link we email you on that Mac to restore Pro.
