No. It filters one window, the Privacy Screen, and you share that window in your call. If you share your whole display, or another app records your screen, your private apps will be in it.
It uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit to build a copy of your screen without the apps you marked private, and shows that copy in the Privacy Screen window. The apps themselves stay open on your Mac. It works per app, and you can also hide one window, like Google Meet in its own Chrome window, from Hide a window in the menu. It can't hide a single browser tab or some text inside an app you're sharing.
In the Privacy Screen window, banners that macOS shows are left out by default. That covers banners and alerts from Notification Center, and you still see them on your Mac. We've tested this on macOS 26.1. Pop-ups an app draws itself still show up unless that app is private, and notification sounds aren't filtered. If you share your whole screen or use Hide on My Mac, turn on Focus or Do Not Disturb before you present.
Screen Recording, so it can build the Privacy Screen window. Hide on My Mac also needs Accessibility so it can move windows. The app asks for whichever one your mode needs.
No. Your screen is processed on your Mac. We don't upload screen frames, screenshots, text read from your screen, window titles or notification content. Your trial email is saved on your Mac. Sign-in and purchases go through Supabase, Postmark and RevenueCat, and the Privacy Policy has the details.

It can. Keep the window open while you pick it in your meeting app. Once ScreenVeil sees that you're sharing, it hides the window from your own view, and Escape does the same. If you need to pick it again, choose Show Privacy Screen from the ScreenVeil menu, and keep ScreenVeil running. In Zoom, also turn on Share selected app window only under Settings → Share screen → Advanced.

Yes, the license covers your Macs. While online on each one, choose Restore Pro in ScreenVeil and confirm the email you used at checkout. If you bought before verified accounts were available, contact support with your original receipt so we can verify ownership. Older purchases aren't linked to an account automatically; please don't buy it again to fix a restore problem. The terms have the full license details.
In build 34 and later, a successful online purchase check can keep Pro available during connection or service outages for up to 72 hours. Stay signed in on that Mac; Settings shows when offline access expires. After that window expires, reconnect before starting a new session. Your one-time purchase does not expire, and an ongoing protection session isn't interrupted by a billing change. Earlier builds don't include this offline access window.
That depends on your Mac, your display resolution and what else is running. Building the Privacy Screen window takes some work, so try it during a normal call and see how it feels. We don't promise specific performance or battery numbers.
Not with the Privacy Screen. Your private apps stay open and usable. They're just not in the window you share. Hide on My Mac is different: it hides or moves the apps on your real desktop, so if you reopen one while sharing your desktop, it shows.
ScreenVeil updates itself. Once a day it checks for a new version and downloads it in the background. The update installs the next time you quit ScreenVeil, or when you click Restart in its menu. For an important update, a dialog asks you to restart. Nothing restarts or pops up during a session. In Settings > General you can check for updates yourself or turn automatic updates off. Versions before build 28 need one manual download first.
No. It's a one-time purchase of $9.99, plus applicable tax. Pro doesn't renew and doesn't expire. It's worth testing your setup again after big macOS or meeting app updates.
